Little People's Playhouse
Craft Ideas
At L.P.P. we often make crafts and projects. We celebrate the holiday's like Mother's/Father's day, Easter, Christmas etc. by crafting something special from the hands of the child, then presenting it to the parents to take home. During the week we will make age appropriate projects and also send them home for the refrigerator on Friday's. We have included many simple crafts you can do with your toddler at home! We will update these crafts throughout the year, hopefully every three months. We hope you enjoy your experience. Feel free to e-mail us with your craft ideas at LittlePeoplesPlayHouseDaycare@gmail.com
Wind Socks
Pre Steps: Grab a disposable paper/plastic cup, some tinsel garland, some string, and other crafty things such as stickers
and paint or anything you would like to attach to your wind sock.
Step One: Attach your crafty materials, like the stickers, to the side of the cup.
Step Two: Punch two holes in the bottom of the cup and tie the piece of string through the two holes.
Step Three: Finally, tie the tinsel garland to the string on the inside of the cup.
Hang your wind sock outside and let the tinsel garland fly freely with each gust of wind!

Terracotta Angels
Pre Steps: Gather a tiny, unbroken terracotta pot, golden pipe cleaners, a wooden ball, tempra paint, tiny bell (to fit within the pot), pete moss, string, a hot glue gun, metallic wrapping paper, gold spray paint, and other things you might want to decorate with.
Step One: Spray paint the terracotta pot gold.
Step Two: Hot glue gun the wooden ball to the bottom of the pot (outside), and place two ends of a piece of string in between the pot and the ball (in the glue), to create a rope to hang the angel by.
Step Three: Glue the pete moss on top of the ball for hair.
Step Four: Curve the pipe cleaner into a halo and glue it to the back of the head.
Step Five: Glue one end of a short string to the bottom of the inside of the pot and then glue the other end of the string to the bell.
Step Six: Paint a face on the head with the tempra paint.
Step Seven: Scrunch the metallic wrapping paper into a pair of wings and glue them to the back of the angel.
Step Eight: Add various embellishments to the outside of the pot and around the edges of the pot's "skirt".
You now have a beautiful angel to hang up as decoration during holidays or to give as a loving gift to a friend or family member!

Father's Day Ties
Step One: Get a tie (a blank tie). Either buy one or use an existing tie, but don't use any of dad's good ties!
Step Two: Get some craft materials, like glue, glitter, paints, etc.
Step Three: Cleverly design the tie (fingerprints are used to make the bodies of the bugs, craft paints was used to make accents).
Let the tie dry thoroughly.
Step Four: Present your tie to dad with a wonderful card!

Mothers's Day Planters
Step One: Get a nice bucket, preferably metal.
Step Two: Gather various craft materials, like those shown below.
Step Three: Deftly arrange the crafts around your bucket.
Step Four: Put either a fake or real plant inside the bucket.
If you're using a fake plant, glue the plant to the bottom of the bucket.
If you're using a real plant, make sure to punch a hole through the bottom of the bucket,
so that water can drain through
the soil after watering the plant.
Step Five: Show your mom your wonderful creation accompanied by a funny/sentimental card. She'll adore it!

Birdhouse
Pre steps: Cut some scrap wood into these shapes, roughly the same size. Then, use hot glue to stick pieces together.
Step One: Paint!
Easy, and fun! Be careful not to get any splinters!

Leaf Prints
Step One: Collect different sizes and shapes of leaves.
Step Two: Lay them flat against hard flat surface protected by newspaper.
Step Three: Cover with regular white paper, and using the SIDES (lay crayon down) of some PEALED (no paper) crayons,
firmly press onto and around the leaf until a shape appears.
Step Four: Change out leaf and color, repeat.
You can see the veins of the leaves perfectly! Awesome!

American Flag!
Step One: Prep a standard white paper with the stars and stripes areas on the USA flag.
Step Two: Have children color the star area blue.
Step Three: Cut stripes out of red construction paper and stars out of white.
Step Four: Add glue in the star area, have child place the stars inside till full.
Repeat process with the red for the stripes
(remember to skip a space!), let dry.
Hang your flag in a window to show your support!
