Daily Schedule & Duties
First, open daycare promptly at 7:30am.
Turn on lights, fan and TV, un-lock doors, put dog/items away, check that pool gates are locked
(must remain so during entire daycare hours), open black side gate, and pick up dog "nasties" from lawn.
Wipe down any toys or tables that may be wet due to condensation.
Change "date" and check calendar schedule for absentees/drop-ins and daily plans.
Welcome all children and parents. Direct parents to "sign-in" center (date, time, pens, etc.) and tuition check drop-off area.
All tuition is due on Mondays!
ALL children MUST be signed in and out on a DAILY basis!
Place all lunch/diaper bags in designated area. Remove any pre-made food, milk/formula, and supplies and put away.
Children can free play (or watch TV if inside) while breakfast is being prepared and served to those who need it.
Cut off time 8:30am
Fill all sipper cups & bottles with drinks and place on tray, offer drinks during playtime.
While outdoors, direct children to drinking fountain.
Clean up children and dishes after all meals, (refer to cleaning roster) fill kitchen sink with hot soapy water to use throughout the morning shift, replacing again at lunch and snack time.
Remind children who use the restroom to go often, helping "wipe" those who require it, and wash hands.
If any accidents occur, a back-up change of clothes for each child is available.
Place soiled items in a plastic bag attaching child's name and place outside to be returned to parent.
Remind parent that a NEW set of (weather appropriate) back-up clothing will have to be brought back the next day for future use.
Diaper changes should be done every 1-2 hours, depending on the age of the child, or when necessary.
Diapers and wipe boxes are located in a designated area.
A diaper pad, with a paper towel on top, and gloves should be used at every change.
Wrap the dirty diaper inside the paper towel and discard in the outside diaper bin.
Wash the pad, your hands, and get new gloves between each child changed.
Be sure to fill out the "needed supply list" for all children who are low/out of supplies.
Providers are required to wash their own hands after each visit to the restroom.
Supervise all children and areas during inside/outside play time.
Check the daycare "enterance" gate to be sure it is closed properly before letting the children outside to play.
The black side gate can be closed when this side play area is not in use. This minimizes having to watch multiple play zones at once. When opened for play, NEVER leave the children unattended, as they can open the "enterance" gate to the outside and escape! Even when using the restroom or to answer the phone, remove the children to another safe area, and close gate behind you.
While children are playing, lay out the nap mats and pac-n-plays inside for nap time. Each parent should supply there own child with a blanket from home every Monday, which will be returned every Friday for cleaning.
Prepare lunch at 11:00am, starting with the youngest child and work towards the eldest.
Cut off time: 11:45pm!
Continue lunch, when done, wash hands and faces, clean, (refer to cleaning roster) change all diapers, do "potty time" for older children, and remove shoes.
If any injuries resulting in any marks occurs to a child during daycare hours, an "owie" report MUST be filled out and signed by both provider and parent/s, and placed into child's folder.
Children's nap time is between 12:00-3:00pm.
Lay children on nap mats/pac-n-plays. Cover children with blankets, start music, turn off lights, turn on monitor, (when needed) lock doors, close blinds and bathroom door.
Place "nap time" sign on enterance gate to detour incoming traffic.
During nap time all dishes, sipper cups, and bottles from lunch must now be washed.
Refill and refrigerate for the 3:30pm snack time.
Prepare snack.
1:00 pm This is the time for the provider's break, if any!
At 3:00pm wake any remaining children if still asleep.
Remove sign from gate, turn off CD player and monitor, open blinds, and unlock door.
Change diapers, have children use the restroom, replace shoes, put away nap mats/pac-n-plays.
Remember on Friday's to send home child's blankets and remove covers to be washed at L.P.P.
Take children outside (weather permitting) and serve snack then clean up both the children and areas.
Children can "free play" either outside or inside.
At 5:00 pm, if outside bring children inside for evening TV time.
Children should be sitting down , NOT playing during TV time.
Put away all inside and outside toys.
Again, greet parents as they arrive for pick-ups.
Have parents check the "needed supply list" for their child(ren) and "sign-out" child(ren) before they leave.
When all children have left, close down daycare. Let dog/supplies out, turn off lights, fan, and TV (computer, CD & DVD players if used).
Unlock pool gate.
Refer to cleaning roster for evening duties!
This concludes our daycare day. (WHEW!)
